If you are struggling to move a game from HDD to SSD and running short on storage, don’t worry. Moving a game from one drive to another without downloading it again is super easy and fast now.
We are going to discuss this in detail below.
For most people, transferring games from HDD to SSD has two common reasons behind it.
The first reason is to have a better and smooth gaming experience as An SSD consists of a solid-state electronic chip and a DRAM chip. It provides flash memory information, which is much faster to write and read than a conventional HDD.
Another significant and most common reason is freeing up space in the drive. You must agree that games are taking a huge amount of memory. For example, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare now clocks in at over 200GB. This would lead to a shortage of space in most cases.

Now that you have bought a new SSD, you don’t want to spend time downloading the games again and re-installing them.

Please note that this setup is not required if you already have a game installed on your SSD.
I will quickly show you how you can add a steam library to your SSD. You will need to add the steam library folder; whichever drive is your SSD. The steps are shown below in the pictures:
First, click on the Steam tab on the top left of the screen.
After that, select Settings.
In the 3rd step, select downloads and click steam library folders. In my case, the SSD folder is E-Drive, so that I would select that.
In the 4th step, click on the add library folder tab, and click the new folder called Steam Library, once done, close this window.
I already have the folder but you would need to create a folder with the name shown below.
After that, let’s move a game from HDD to SSD.
